Barra de Navidad is a small town located on the western coast-line of the Mexican state of Jalisco, apprx. 60km North of Manzanillo and 250km South of Puerto Vallarta.

Barra de Navidad is situated around the Bay from San Patricio-Melaque, its slightly bigger twin city.
With a population of 7000+, it is a small farming and fishing community.
It is also a historical port where ships used to leave for Philippines in the 16th century (A monument to that is at the end of the jetty).
Accross the laguna from the village is the Grand Bay Hotel Isla Navidad[1] (Isla Navidad is actually not an island anymore, as you can see on the satellite view), one of the most luxurious hotel in Mexico, with its famous yacht marina.
The island in the middle of the laguna is called Isla de los Puercos [2].
