The area just south of the Airport is the Hotel Zone, comprised of several big touristic complexes. [1]

the Col Zapata area at the South of the Cuale river (named Zona Romantica recently in some tourist brochures) [2]

the Centro along the shore in between these two areas [3]

and a number of residential areas to the East of the hotel zone.

Frame 3CenterThis is the center of the city. Nice beaches are plentiful:

Playa Los Muertos (Dead Men's Beach)

Playa Boca de Tomates (Mouth of Tomatoes)

Frame 4Around Rio CualeThe part of the city around the Rio Cuale is the most interesting. It is famous for its cobbled streets. You'll find plenty of good cheap places to eat and drink. Highlights are:

The malecon [1] which is the seaside promenade,

Parish Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe [2]

the Isla Cuale[3], a site for restaurants, shops and a cultural center.
